Prerequisites<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For an overview of the Reporter, please read <a href=\"https:\/\/help.ino.cx\/index.php\/help-center\/reporter-an-overview\/\">this article<\/a>. The database must have been created beforehand in the Maker, and its fields configured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You also need the following permissions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Access to the <strong>Reporter<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The right to create, edit and delete data sources.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The right to export, in order to generate an export.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Note: the number of data sources you can create is limited per platform. The corresponding limit is &#8216;Number of data sources&#8217;.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Using a database as a data source<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2.1 Access this feature<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To access this feature, go to the <strong>Reporter<\/strong>, click on the &#8216;<strong>Data sources<\/strong>&#8216; module and then select the &#8216;<strong>Database<\/strong>&#8216; category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2.2 Create the data source<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Click on &#8216;<strong>Create<\/strong>&#8216; to create a data source, then fill in the form:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Name<\/strong>: required, 255 characters maximum.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Description<\/strong>: optional, 255 characters maximum.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Data source type<\/strong>: keep &#8216;<strong>Internal<\/strong>&#8216;.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Origin of the data source<\/strong>: select &#8216;<strong>Databases<\/strong>&#8216;.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Database<\/strong>: select the database whose entries you want to analyse.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As soon as you select a database, a message confirms which database the data source will compile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Click on &#8216;<strong>Add the data source<\/strong>&#8216; to finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Note: you can create several data sources from the same database, and two data sources can carry the same name.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Note: the database you select cannot be changed afterwards.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Open the data source you created. The entries are displayed in columns: one column per field configured on the database in the Maker, plus the default columns added by the Reporter (see the <strong>Columns<\/strong> section below).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Note: the entries are read directly from the database, so any entry added or modified in the Maker appears on your next refresh.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Using the database data<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.1 Filter the data<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Click on &#8216;<strong>Add filter<\/strong>&#8216; to restrict the entries displayed. The number of results is updated accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The syntax depends on the type of column:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dates: strictly greater than, greater than or equal to, strictly lower than, lower than or equal to.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Numbers: a simple value (15), an interval (20-40), a comparison (&gt;17), or a combination of these (&lt;=6,15,20-40).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Text: a close expression.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A filter can be locked as a default filter so that it is applied every time the data source is opened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Note: unlike the data sources built on interactions, a database data source does not require a date filter.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Note: the fields configured as &#8216;<strong>Long text<\/strong>&#8216; cannot be filtered. The fields configured as &#8216;<strong>Time<\/strong>&#8216; are filtered as text, not as dates.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.2 Adjust the data<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For each column, three actions are available:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Filter the column<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Modify the column, to rename it<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hide the column<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Columns can also be reordered by drag and drop. To display a column you had hidden, click on the cogwheel at the top right, then &#8216;<strong>Add columns<\/strong>&#8216;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.3 Resynchronize the columns<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When a field is added to the database in the Maker, the corresponding column is not added automatically to the existing data sources. Click on the cogwheel at the top right, then &#8216;<strong>Resynchronize columns<\/strong>&#8216;. The interface indicates the number of columns that have been added, or informs you that there is nothing new to add.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"427\" height=\"201\" src=\"https:\/\/help.ino.cx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Capture-decran-2026-08-25-104212.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6888\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.ino.cx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Capture-decran-2026-08-25-104212.png 427w, https:\/\/help.ino.cx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Capture-decran-2026-08-25-104212-300x141.png 300w, https:\/\/help.ino.cx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Capture-decran-2026-08-25-104212-50x24.png 50w, https:\/\/help.ino.cx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Capture-decran-2026-08-25-104212-60x28.png 60w, https:\/\/help.ino.cx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Capture-decran-2026-08-25-104212-100x47.png 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 427px) 100vw, 427px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This feature is linked to the &#8216;<strong>Modification<\/strong>&#8216; permission in the role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Note: resynchronization only adds the missing columns.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.4 Use the data<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You have several options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Export the data<\/strong> (on the cogwheel): choose the decimal separator, then confirm. The export is generated in the background. It becomes available on the &#8216;<strong>Exports<\/strong>&#8216; module.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Save as an exploration<\/strong> (on the floppy disk): your current filters and columns are saved as a new exploration, which you can then use in the &#8216;<strong>Exploration<\/strong>&#8216; module and on your dashboards.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Note: on an exploration built on a database data source, the key performance indicators must be created from scratch. No indicator template is offered for this type of data source.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.5 Modify or delete the data source<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the tile of a data source, in the &#8216;<strong>Data sources<\/strong>&#8216; module:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>&#8216;<strong>Edit<\/strong>&#8216; allows you to change the name and the description. The type, the origin and the linked database cannot be modified.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8216;<strong>History<\/strong>&#8216; displays the creations and modifications recorded on the data source.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8216;<strong>Delete<\/strong>&#8216; removes the data source permanently.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Note: a data source used by an exploration cannot be deleted. Delete the explorations built on it first.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Note: deleting the data source does not delete the database, nor any of its entries.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.6 Columns<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are the details for each column:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Entry ID<\/strong>: the unique ID of the entry.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Addition date<\/strong>: the date and time the entry was added to the database.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every other column corresponds to a field configured on the database in the Maker, and carries the name of that field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Note: a field left empty displays &#8216;<strong>No data<\/strong>&#8216;.
