SMS numbers – Set them up

[Reading time: 3 minutes]

Overview

The ‘SMS numbers’ module lets you configure sender names for your outgoing direct or smart SMS messages.

2 types of SMS senders can be created: customized or marketing. INO cx works with partner operators to add numbers to be used for marketing SMS senders.
If you already have a contract with an operator, you can manage SMS sending yourself via the client account settings > SMS settings.

Once created, SMS senders can be used: for direct sending, for smart sending using a queue (during a call or not), in a Smart routing, in an SMS campaign, in an invoice.

I – SMS sender creation

Accessing the module

  1. Go to the Maker.

  2. Navigate to Entry points > SMS Numbers.

  3. You will then see a list of all created SMS senders.

Adding an SMS sender

Once you are in the module, click on the ‘CREATE’ button.

Interface and available options

The SMS senders list is displayed in a table with several columns:

  • Name: The name associated with the SMS sender.

  • Type: The type of sender (marketing or customized sender). Note: For marketing senders, a stop clause will be inserted. For customized senders, do not use prohibited senders!
  • Customized sender: Sender to be displayed on the target’s phone
  • Time zone: The time zone applied to the SMS sender (default or custom).

  • Language: The language assigned to the SMS sender (default or custom).

Searching and filtering numbers

  • Search bar: Allows you to search for an SMS sender by name or by the customized sender.

  • Tag filters: A dropdown menu lets you filter SMS senders based on assigned tags.

Editing an SMS sender

Once you are in the module, click on the ‘CREATE’ button.

Each SMS sender can be modified by clicking the pencil button. This action allows you to change the parameters related to the sender.

History and tag management

The cogged wheel icon button provides access to four features:

  • Duplicate
  • History: View modifications and changes made to the SMS sender.
  • See dependencies: Check where the SMS sender is used (profiles, queues, payment modules).
  • Tag management: Assign tags to the number for better organization and searchability.

Once you have added your SMS sender, you can use it in several modules.

II – SMS senders settings

1. For direct SMS

To use the previously created SMS sender when sending a direct SMS, you will need to add it to the profile.

To do this, go to the Maker, profile, configuration tab, SMS numbers sub-tab. Click on the ADD button.

You can add up to 50 SMS numbers to a profile.

2. For smart SMS

To use the previously created SMS sender when sending a smart SMS, it must be added to a queue.

Note: as with direct SMS messages, SMS senders can only be used for outgoing interactions, so they need to be set up in an outgoing queue.

To do this, go to the Maker, to the queues, enter the desired queue, settings tab, distribution section. You can then select an exit point, which is the SMS sender that will be displayed.

Note: for messaging, this exit point only concerns SMS messages.

To be able to use the SMS sender you created when sending a payment link by SMS, a payment confirmation or a reminder of payment deadlines, you will need to add it to a payment module.

To do this, go to the Maker, payment modules, and enter the General section of the desired payment module. You can then select an entry point, which is the SMS sender that will be displayed.

4. For SMS campaigns

In order to use the SMS sender you have created for an SMS campaign, you will need to add it to an SMS campaign.

To do this, go to the Maker, to SMS campaigns. When you create an SMS campaign, you will be asked for the SMS number that will be displayed. You can also change it later.

5. In Smart RoutingS

To use a previously created SMS sender in Smart Routing, use the ‘Send an SMS’ action and then select the SMS sender.

Note: you will have access to all the SMS senders created in the customer account.

Congratulations! Now, you can use your SMS numbers in the Banner.
