The Maker offers advanced user management features, including specific functionalities for administrators. This article outlines what an administrator is, how to configure one, and the rights associated with this user in the Maker.

What is an administrator (admin)?
An administrator is a user with extended access privileges that go beyond those of other users. Here are the key characteristics of an administrator:
-
Role and Profile:
- the Role does not impact an administrator, as they have access to all entities in both the Reporter and the Maker.
- The Profile, however, is considered. In the Banner, the administrator inherits the rights of their profile but is treated as if they belong to all teams (except for collaborative and supervision functionalities).
-
Access:
- administrators have the highest level of access, allowing them to manage users, settings, and data comprehensively.
How to create an admin user?
The designation of an administrator follows specific rules:
- First admin: the first user created on a customer account is automatically an administrator.
- Delegation: only an existing administrator can designate another user as an administrator.
- Licenses:
- an administrator can have either an Essential or Smart license.
- The license overrides the admin status to determine the extent of available access. For instance, if you have an Essential license and you’re admin, you still won’t have access to Maker’s “Routing” module.
- Collaborator or Manager:
- an administrator can function in either a collaborator or manager type of user, depending on organizational needs.
What are admin’s rights in the Maker?
An administrator has exclusive rights within the application. Here are the main features:
- Changing user types: only an administrator can change a user’s type (collaborator/manager). However, this action is only possible when the user in question is logged out.
- Ignored role: administrators have full access to all modules in the Maker and Reporter (respecting their licence).
- Designate another administrator: only an administrator can create a new administrator.
How to know if you are an admin?
To check if you are an administrator, follow these steps:
- Go to the user list: In the Maker, navigate to the user section.
- Check the “Administrator” column:
- A column indicates whether a user is an administrator with a value of Yes or No.
